Chateau Dauzac

Chateau Dauzac, Margaux
Friday February 1, 2013

Our first Bordeaux Chateau visit was at Chateau Dauzac.

We just drove up, rang the doorbell, and moments later we were greeted by a young lady who was happy to give us a winery tour for the price of €6,00.

We agreed to the price and were lead through an informational winery tour, in which every step of the wine making process was explained to us.

It was like doing a sommelier review mini class because she even asked us questions.
We concluded with a tasting of 3 wines
1.     Chateau Labarde, Haut-Médoc 2008 Andre Lurton
60% Cabernet Sauvignon & 40% Merlot
I found this wine to be a little young but was nicely balanced.
2.     Labastide Dauzac, Margaux Grand Vin 2008 Andre Lurton
43% Cabernet Sauvignon & 57% Merlot
This wine had a little bit of barnyard on the nose, good fruit, smooth, but wasn’t ready yet.
RATING: ½ star
3.     Chateau Dauzac, Margaux 2008 Grand Cru Classe en 1855
39% Cabernet Sauvignon & 41% Merlot
RATING:

We bought
1 bottle of Chateau Dauzac, Margaux 2009 (not tasted) for €44,00
1 bottle of Labastide Dauzac, Margaux Grand Vin 2009 Andre Lurton (not tasted) for €25,00

I’m going to try to lay these bottles down for 5 years and see how the evolve.
